How it works
Three steps from connection to clarity
LazeeFish uses Plaid for automatic transaction sync — a secure, read-only link to your bank that keeps every transaction flowing in without manual entry.
Connect your bank
Click "Connect Bank" in Setup → Bank Connections. The Plaid Link widget opens — search for your institution and authenticate using OAuth or your online banking credentials. LazeeFish never sees your login details.
Transactions import automatically
Once connected, LazeeFish fetches your recent transactions and continues syncing new ones as they arrive. Duplicate detection ensures the same transaction is never imported twice, even across multiple syncs.
Review — most transactions categorize themselves
Imported transactions land in your Review feed. Known merchants post automatically; new ones get a pre-filled guess for one-tap confirm; anything truly unknown waits for you. Set up automation rules or let LazeeFish learn from your history — most months, 90%+ of transactions need zero input.
Features
Everything you need for automatic sync
Built on Plaid's industry-leading bank connectivity platform.
12,000+ institutions supported
Connect virtually any US bank, credit union, or brokerage — including major institutions and community banks.
Real-time transaction sync
New transactions appear in your Review feed shortly after they post to your bank — no waiting for nightly batches.
Automatic deduplication
Each transaction carries a unique Plaid ID. Re-syncing never creates duplicates, even if you refresh multiple times.
Secure OAuth — credentials stay with Plaid
Your bank username and password are entered directly into Plaid's interface and never transmitted to LazeeFish servers.
Auto-skip for tracking-only accounts
Mark a bank connection as "auto-skip" to import transactions silently without cluttering your Pending review queue.
Multi-account support
Connect as many banks and accounts as you like. Each connection is managed independently so you stay in control.
Sync status visibility
Each bank connection shows the last sync date, transaction count from the most recent run, and any error state — so you always know whether your data is current or needs attention.
Privacy note: LazeeFish never stores or sees your bank credentials. Authentication is handled entirely by Plaid using bank-grade encryption. We only receive the transaction data you authorize.
Plaid sync also powers recurring bill tracking, subscription detection, and debt payment auto-split. When an imported transaction matches a bill template, LazeeFish auto-fulfills the occurrence — so your bill list stays current without any manual check-ins. Subscription detection scans your history to surface every recurring charge automatically. Debt payment auto-split applies to mortgage, auto loan, and credit card payments from your bank: each payment is automatically divided into its principal and interest components so your debt envelopes stay accurate. Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to connect my bank account?
Yes. The connection is handled entirely by Plaid, one of the most widely trusted financial data platforms in the US — used by thousands of apps including Venmo, Robinhood, and Coinbase. Plaid uses bank-grade 256-bit encryption and OAuth authentication. LazeeFish never sees, stores, or has access to your banking credentials. We only receive the transaction data you authorize, and we request read-only access — we cannot initiate any transactions on your behalf.
Which banks and credit unions are supported?
Over 12,000 US financial institutions are supported via Plaid, including all major banks (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, US Bank), most credit unions, and the majority of online banks and neobanks. If your institution supports online banking, there's a high likelihood Plaid can connect to it. You'll see an institution search in the Plaid Link widget when you connect — if yours appears there, it works.
How often does LazeeFish sync transactions?
LazeeFish syncs automatically on a regular schedule — typically multiple times per day. New transactions usually appear in your Review feed within a few hours of posting at your bank. You can also trigger a manual refresh from the Bank Connections settings page at any time. Note that pending (not yet posted) transactions are not imported; LazeeFish only imports posted transactions that have cleared your bank.
Can I disconnect a bank account later?
Yes, at any time. Go to Setup → Bank Connections, find the connection you want to remove, and click Disconnect. This immediately removes the Plaid link and stops all future syncing. Your existing imported transactions remain in your ledger — only future imports stop. You can also revoke access directly through your bank's connected apps settings if you prefer to manage it there.
