The AI budgeting app
that actually learns.
Most budgeting apps make you categorize every transaction by hand. LazeeFish watches how you spend, builds confidence for each merchant, and handles 90%+ of transactions automatically — without you lifting a finger. Envelope budgeting with real AI. For $5/month.

Three layers of AI. One clean inbox.
LazeeFish runs three decision layers on every imported transaction, in this order. The result is a Review feed sorted by confidence — not a pile of unread items.
Explicit rules you set
For transactions with edge cases — a payee that splits between two envelopes, or a subscription with an amount range — you write one rule. It fires instantly and never asks again. Most users need fewer than 5 rules total.
Merchant memory
No rule? The AI looks at every time you've categorized this merchant. It counts consistency, weighs recency, and penalizes corrections. Hit 90%+ consistency across enough posts and it auto-posts silently — forever, or until you correct it again.
Smart defaults
For a brand-new merchant you've never seen, the AI uses Plaid's own transaction category — Food & Drink, Transportation, Medical — as a starting guess. Never auto-posts on this alone, but puts a pre-filled suggestion in your Review feed so confirmation is one tap.
An inbox that empties itself.
Every transaction is sorted by confidence before you open the app. High-confidence transactions post silently. Medium-confidence transactions are pre-filled for a single tap. New merchants wait for you. Most months, you review fewer than 5% of your transactions.
The ratio improves every month as the AI learns.
The stuff no other budgeting AI handles.
Smart transaction categorization is table stakes. LazeeFish also solves the structural problems that create phantom charges and inflate your spending data.
Venmo & PayPal duplicate detection
When both your bank and Venmo are connected, the same payment shows up twice — the bare "VENMO −$50" debit and the detailed Venmo record. LazeeFish detects the pair and hides the bank copy automatically. Only the rich record (with the real payee and notes) survives.
Cross-bank transfer detection
Credit-card payments, savings transfers, and paycheck deposits between your own accounts look like spending if you're not careful. LazeeFish pairs the debit and credit — even when they land in separate syncs days apart — and excludes them from your spending automatically.
Refund auto-matching
When a return credit arrives, LazeeFish matches it to the original purchase and credits the right envelope back — so your Clothing balance actually goes up when you return that jacket. No manual pairing required.
Retroactive apply
Created a rule late? Updated a merchant's default? LazeeFish offers to recategorize all matching past transactions — with a preview of exactly which ones change before you confirm. Fix months of history in seconds.
Real AI. Real price.
Most apps with AI charge 2–3× more. Most cheap apps have no AI. LazeeFish is the only one that does both.

Prices reflect monthly billing as of May 2026. Annual billing typically lowers cost by 30–40%. "Learns" = ML-based categorization that improves from corrections. "Auto-posts" = transactions post without manual confirmation.
One correction.
It never asks again.
The first time you categorize a merchant, LazeeFish asks: "Always send Starbucks to Coffee?" One tap creates the default. The AI's confidence for that merchant jumps immediately — every future Starbucks charge posts silently. If the AI guesses wrong and you correct it, that correction lowers confidence and it goes back to asking until it earns your trust again. No ML model that ignores your corrections. No rules you have to remember to create.

The AI does the data entry. The envelopes do the budgeting.
AI categorization handles the mechanical part — assigning every transaction to the right envelope automatically. The envelope method handles the human part — deciding in advance how much each category gets this month, so you stop spending when the money runs out. One automates the past. The other controls the future. Together, most users spend under 5 minutes per week on their budget.

What makes LazeeFish an AI budgeting app?
LazeeFish uses machine learning to categorize transactions. It tracks how you assign each merchant over time, builds a confidence score based on consistency and recency, and once it's confident enough it starts auto-posting without asking. It also learns from corrections — if you move a transaction to a different envelope, that signal lowers confidence for that merchant so it stops assuming and asks again. Most users reach 90%+ automatic within a few weeks, without writing a single rule.
Does the AI need training or setup?
No. Connect your bank, categorize your first transactions normally, and the AI watches passively. It builds confidence for each merchant in the background and starts handling them automatically — typically within the first 2–4 weeks of real use. You can also create explicit rules for specific merchants if you want immediate results for known payees.
How does LazeeFish compare to YNAB, Monarch, and Copilot on AI?
YNAB does not have AI categorization — it suggests payees based on what you've typed before, but every transaction still requires manual approval. Monarch has AI learning that's similar to LazeeFish's, but doesn't auto-post without confirmation and costs 2–3× more. Copilot has strong AI but is iOS/Mac only and costs $12.99/month. LazeeFish is the only option with genuine AI learning, auto-posting, and envelope budgeting — at $5/month on any device.
What is the AI Review feed?
Every transaction synced from your bank gets an AI confidence score. The Review feed sorts them into three tiers: auto-posted (high confidence — nothing to do), needs a quick look (medium confidence — pre-filled for one-tap confirm), and needs you (new merchant or low confidence). The idea is that the feed empties itself over time as the AI learns, until only truly new or ambiguous transactions require input.
Does LazeeFish detect Venmo and PayPal duplicates automatically?
Yes. When both your bank account and Venmo or PayPal are connected, the same payment appears as two separate transactions — the bare debit in your checking account and the detailed record in the wallet app. LazeeFish detects the pair automatically and hides the bank copy, keeping only the wallet record that has the real payee name, notes, and Plaid category. The same logic applies to credit-card payments and transfers between your own accounts — they're detected, paired, and excluded from spending automatically.
